Winners of the pupil library assistant of the year award 2018

we are delighted to the results of our annual Primary School Pupil Library Assistant of the Year Award for 2018. This year we have awarded a team prize and a KS1 prize as well as the winner and runner up:

  • First prize and Pupil Library Assistant of the Year – Barira Siddiqua, Globe Primary
  • Runner-Up – Nabila Janneth, Lansbury Lawrence Primary
  • Team Prize – Blue Gate Fields Junior team of 4 – Afria Ahmed, Nahima Begum, Nawsheen Azad and Sarah Zadi
  • KS1 prize – Mohammad Irfan Uddin, St John’s Primary

Although librarians and teachers are asked to explain why they are nominating entrants, the piece each pupil assistant writes about themselves to explain why they think they should win the award is quite often the deciding factor. The panel were impressed the initiative and responsibility shown by many of the applicants and their understanding of the role of the library assistant to not only keep the library tidy, important though that is, but also to inspire others to read, which they do through displays, promotions and talking individually to other pupils.

The winners were presented with their awards (a trophy, certificate and Amazon vouchers) on Wednesday 11th July at the NQT celebration event at the PDC, followed by tea and library games in the Schools Library Service!

The 2019 award will be announced in the Spring term and more guidance can be found at
